In a world where the fashion industry grapples with its environmental impact, launches like "The Sustainables" are leading the charge for change.

SIXR, a Canadian fashion tech startup, has joined forces with Toronto's George Brown College (GBC) to spearhead this innovative project, which kicked off with a launch event at GBC in January 2024. The event premiered both SIXR and the the "FOR TOMORROW" sustainable hoodie collection designed by GBC students. The collaboration between SIXR and GBC marks a significant milestone in the fight against the fast fashion crisis.

SIXR embodies a commitment to circularity, featuring garments with SIXR QR codes that offer insight into their lifecycle, from materials used to environmental footprint. "We're excited to partner with George Brown College for the launch of 'The Sustainables'," says Gagan Singh, co-founder of SIXR. "The FOR TOMORROW collection is just the beginning of our mission to divert clothing from landfills. Each garment will feature a QR code that customers can scan to understand its journey, promoting transparency and accountability in fashion."

The launch event, held at George Brown College, included a sustainable fashion contest highlighting outfits crafted from circular materials. SIXR aims to make "The Sustainables" an annual affair, aspiring to establish it as a flagship event for circular fashion, akin to the Met Gala.

"Our goal with 'The Sustainables' is to inspire a paradigm shift in the fashion industry," says Luigi Ferrara, Dean Centre for Arts, Design & Information Technology and Chair & CEO of Brookfield Sustainability Institute, George Brown College. "The principles of sustainable fashion embodied in the FOR TOMORROW collection set a new standard for the industry, paving the way for a more eco-conscious future."

Join us in our mission to revolutionize the fashion industry, one QR code at a time. The Sustainables initiative represents a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more sustainable fashion landscape, driven by collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
